Zvezdana Novaković ZveN je vsestranska glasbena ustvarjalka in performerka. Sprehodila se je od etna prek gledališke glasbe do z elektroniko obogatenega eksperimentiranja. Zvezdana Novaković ZveN je v krepkem desetletju delovala na toliko področjih in pri toliko projektih, da jih je težko popisati. Razpon sega od gledaliških do koncertnih odrov, od skupine Laibach do Svetlane Makarovič, od Bolgarije do Brazilije, od starodavnih tradicij do elektronike, od lutk do uprizoritvenih presežkov Jerneja Lorencija, od klasike do džeza, od poučevanja vokalnih tehnik prek študija kompozicije do vodenja pevskih zborov, od nacionalne opere do alterklubov, od pripovedovanja do harfe. Vse pa povezuje njen glas. Njen ZveN. "Težko je to postaviti v en paket. Je pa mogoče. A uvesti je treba nova pravila," pravi.

 

Čeprav je njeno ustvarjanje težko ujeti v zvočni zapis in prisega na živo izvajanje, na interakcijo s prostorom in občinstvom, je pred dvema letoma izdala album Slovena Voices, "Starodavno sreča moderno, to je bistvo SLOVENA VOICES: odprti glasovi, pristnost in brezčasna pesem prednikov,". 

"Čim si na odru, je to že predstava, to ni le glasbeni koncert. Vsak trenutek tvoje prezence je pomemben. Pri tem črpam iz vseh drugih zanimanj v življenju, iz narave, filozofije, meditacije, dobre restavracije, človeške komunikacije, nore modulacije ..." pripoveduje Zvezdana.

 

Pravi, da ji vse lepo pade z neba, a ji ne verjamemo v celoti, saj skoraj

vse anekdote, iz katerih je sestavljeno njeno življenje, pričajo o trudu, iskanju, zasledovanju. Če kaj, bi lahko rekli, da izvrstno obvladuje umetnost iskanja in sprejemanja, ki je v nasprotju s čakanjem, da lepo pride samo od sebe, precej redka in edinstvena veščina. (Mladina, Katja Perat)

Zvezdana Novaković – singer, harpist, composer, performer

Zvezdana Novaković ZveN is a singer and harpist from Northeastern Slovenia. While combining a traditional folk, jazz, classical, electronic music and performing arts she creates unique ways of expression. Her voice and musical artistry are influenced by a tradition of Slavic and Balkan cultures. The open voice throat technique is a blend of her own sound combined with improvisation and the right intensity of a moment. By singing folk songs of Serbian and Slovenian grandmother she wants to remind about tradition of ancestors. 

The award-winning artist (Grand Prix on PPA / PL; 1st Prize Zeman Worldmusic Fest / SRB; 2nd Prize Karnobat / BG) has toured the USA, Brazil, Canada, China and Europe. Intensely working with different National Theatres as a performer/actor, she also writes music for theatre.

Education:

2004 – finished her high school education at the Conservatory for ballet and music in Maribor, major: music theory

2011 – graduated from jazz singing at the KUG University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria (mentor: Dena DeRose)

2014 – graduated from music education at the Faculty of Education of the University of Maribor, Slovenia

2014 – finished her Master’s of traditional Bulgarian singing at the AMTII Academy of Music, Dance and Visual Arts in Plovdiv, Bulgaria (mentor: Prof. Dr. Svetla Stanilova)

2018 - finished Master Study of composition at HSM Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, Sweden

 

Awards:

In March 2010, she won the prestigious Grand Prix at the 31st Stage Songs Review festival (PPA 31) in Wroclaw, Poland. For the first time in history of this competition of actors’ interpretation of music, the prize was awarded to a foreigner.

In May 2013, she took second place in Traditional folk singing in the category of professionals in Karnobat, Bulgaria. Again, she was the first foreigner to win this prize.

 

Theater:

In March 2011, her first original project “Diagnoza” (Diagnosis) was staged at the PPA festival in Wroclaw, Poland. The project is a mixture of theater, music and dance, and includes constant interaction with the audience.

 

She is also strongly engaged in the National SNG Theaters in Ljubljana and Maribor, and the Puppet Theaters in Ljubljana and Maribor (LGL, LGM). Apart from the acting, singing and composing performances, she also works as a music instructor at different theaters.

 

Projects:

Zvezdana takes much interest in different cultures around the world. She has found her way of expression in a traditional form of singing of Slavic and Balkan countries, the throat vocal technique. In her project Slovena Voices, she works with folk singers from Slavic countries, singing folk songs and liturgy arranged in modern and jazz harmony.

 

In 2011, she started studying the harp under the mentorship of Tina Žerdin, and now holds solo concerts and projects combining harp, voice and storytelling: Zvezdana sTRings, The Iliad, The Voice of the Strings (Sweden, Slovenia), Vellamo & Faronika (Finland, Slovenia), Trubadurke, Arhai and more.

 

She is the artistic leader of many international projects, including BOSA (Brazil), The Journey of Chanting (India), The Voice of the Strings (Sweden) and Vellamo & Faronika (Finland).

 

She works as a freelance artist in many independent projects around the world (Brazil, the USA, Germany, France, Bulgaria, etc.). She also holds workshops, provides vocal technique and jazz singing lessons, and works with actors on their music performance.
